Foster carers are amazing. For the children we support through our Out Of Home Care (OOHC) program we want to find, select and support the most amazing foster carers.We’re looking for highly motivated people who feel strongly about identifying and assessing new foster carers and empowering them to give the best possible care to children in OOHC.We need people who can balance the need to be thorough in your assessments of potential carers with sharing the realistic view of life with a foster child. In this role, you will face disappointment when potential foster carers don’t work out and the great satisfaction when they do!This role will allow you to step to the other side of child protection, experiencing a change of pace while still keeping children at the centre of everything you do, and provides an opportunity to support, train, and develop existing authorized carers.In addition to this, you will provide much needed support to the Operations Team.Terms: Permanent full-time position based in HurstvilleWho are we & how do we work?Our OOHC team are a diverse and talented group of Case Managers, Senior Practitioners and Team Leaders. Successful team members have been Social Worker, Psychologist, Case Manager even in a Police team like JIRT. They all shared similar traits:Strong analytical, critical reflection and written skills to conduct and document comprehensive assessments (experience using Step by Step would be an advantage)Comfortable having tough conversations in a sensitive and appropriate wayAn understanding of Child Protection, Out of Home Care (OOHC) and the needs of diverse communities i.e. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, CALD and LGBTQIKnowledge of attachment and trauma theories relating to early childhoodCurrent driver’s license (pool cars are available)Be available for evening and occasional weekend work – sometimes they’re the only times our potential foster carer’s have to catch up!Interested?
