Child & Family Practitioner

Our Family and Child Connect team have an exciting opportunity for an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander professional to join our team covering the Logan catchment, with our office located in Loganholme.Working in a multidisciplinary team, you will to engage and support Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander families. The role will provide quality service delivery to children, young people, families and the community within the Family and Child Connect service, through assessment, information and advice, recommendations and referrals to appropriate support services. You will engage with referrers and families, complete initial assessments and support at risk families to access appropriate services to improve family functioning, child safety and wellbeing. The role offers specialist consultation to colleagues and team members in the engagement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families across the catchment.  This opportunity is for you if you want to: Provide resilience-based, culturally appropriate support so families and children can live their best lifeEnjoy great flexibility including a monthly accrued day off and $15,900 tax free salary packaging option  About the role:1 x Full time ongoing position for an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander worker to support the cultural capacity of the teamBased in Loganholme and working remotely from homeTools and equipment to work remotely including tablet, phone and access to a pool vehicle for home visits About you:As well as having recognition from Community as a culturally safe person and practitioner, you will have:Formal qualifications in social work, human services or behavioural sciences is desirable3+ years’ experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families within a safety and/or well-being contextDemonstrated capacity to build rapport with families in a short time frameCapacity to engage with people from all walks of life including the local Aboriginal communityExperience identifying and addressing child protection concernsHigh level of professional accountability and integrity and a belief that every parent has potentialHigh level written and verbal communication skillsCurrent driver’s license (pool cars are available so you don’t need to use your own vehicle) This is an Identified position.
